Stimming live
Phare de Cordouan in France for Cercle
Only Cercle could make us feel spiritually connected to electronic music while watching a man play keyboards in a French lighthouse. Stimming’s live set here is less a club session and more a solitary, cinematic composition for a breathtaking vista. The vibe is introspective and vast, with the crashing waves and sweeping views becoming part of the performance.
Technically, this is deep, melodic electronica, operating at a patient 122.9 BPM average and spending significant time in the melancholic 7A key. The energy profile is tellingly low-end heavy (64%), creating a dense, atmospheric bed over which delicate melodies and field recordings float. It’s a live artist at work, building textures in real-time, with key modulations to 12A and 5A introducing subtle shifts in light and shadow.
For the diggers, the set is full of Stimming’s own poignant works: 'Die Luft' is a haunting opener, '22 Degree Halo' a shimmering highlight, and 'For My Better Half' a touch of raw emotion. The inclusion of Diplo’s 'Hold You Tight' via Anden’s remix is a surprising, beautiful left-turn, while Illyus Barrientos’s 'Strings' offers a moment of pure, driving deep house. The epic journey begins with 'Die Luft,' builds through the atmospheric tension of '22 Degree Halo,' and concludes with the 28-minute ambient opus 'November Morning,' leaving us adrift in its serene aftermath.
