James Grant & Jody Wisternoff
Anjunadeep Open Air: London 2025 (Official Set)
Of course we’re here, chasing that specific serotonin drip only an Anjunadeep Open Air can provide. The promise of ‘emotional but not cheesy’ is a tightrope walk, and we’re all willingly suspended in it. The London skyline fades into a watercolour wash of purples and blues as the sun dips, the crowd a sea of knowing nods and closed eyes.
Technically, this is a masterclass in melodic house propulsion, locking into a steady 125 BPM cruise with a harmonic centre gravitating around the warm, stable 4B. The energy arc is a gentle, persistent rise, using the low-end thrum to anchor flights of melodic fancy, while Wisternoff and Grant’s mixing is so fluid it feels less like a DJ set and more like a single, hour-long sigh. The crate digging is quintessential Anjunadeep: PROFF’s ‘Memory #3 (Club Mix)’ delivers that wistful, piano-led ache, while It Is Lenny’s ‘Sunwalker’ offers a sun-drenched counterpoint.
The label’s own roster shines with Durante & Emi Galvan’s ‘Lunar Circuit’ edit, a hypnotic journey, and Ezequiel Arias & Durante’s ‘Dream Controller’ serves as the extended, peak-time heart of the set. Green Aqua’s ‘Summer Funk’ remix is a welcome, funky left-turn. They begin in the shadows of an unknown opener, build to the sprawling narrative of ‘Dream Controller’, and gently usher us out with the melancholic float of Almost Criminal & Lydon’s ‘Wasting My Time’.
