Who We Are
TuneLab (tunelab.dev) provides music analysis tools for DJs, producers, and developers. The service is operated by Binary Equipment Ltd., a private limited company registered in England and Wales (Company Number 9172028) — see /legal for full company details. Binary Equipment Ltd. is the data controller for personal data processed via tunelab.dev under the UK GDPR and, for EU/EEA users, the EU GDPR. Contact us at .
What We Collect
Client-Side Tools
Most tools run entirely on your device. Your audio files are never uploaded to our servers. All processing happens locally using your device's CPU or GPU.
Cloud Assist Tools
Some tools offer optional cloud processing for faster results. When you use Cloud Assist, your audio is uploaded, processed, and returned — then immediately deleted. We do not listen to, analyse the content of, or retain your audio. This approach satisfies the data minimisation principle under both UK and EU GDPR.
Anonymous Telemetry
We collect anonymous usage data to improve our tools: which tools are used, processing duration, error rates, and basic device context (browser, OS, mobile/desktop). Telemetry is linked to a one-way hash — we cannot reverse it to identify you. No names, emails, or personal data are collected through telemetry.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use a small number of cookies and local storage entries for authentication, security verification, and telemetry batching. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Accounts and Payments
If you create an account (optional), we store your email address and display name from your authentication provider. Online payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe is the payment processor and, under Stripe Managed Payments, the merchant of record in supported regions. We do not store full card numbers; Stripe returns a secure token and we retain only the last 4 digits and card brand for display in your receipt history. For refund or billing questions see Terms §6 or contact .
How We Use Your Data
We use data to provide and improve our tools, detect and fix errors, prevent abuse, and process payments. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties for marketing purposes.
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate TuneLab:
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and security
- Stripe — payment processing. Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (Ireland) and its affiliates. (privacy policy)
- Google — optional sign-in (privacy policy)
- Discord — optional sign-in (privacy policy)
International Data Transfers
Binary Equipment Ltd. is established in the UK. For EU/EEA users, UK-EU data transfers are currently covered by the EU adequacy decision for the UK. If this adequacy status changes, we will implement appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data.
Data Retention
- Audio files: deleted immediately after processing
- Telemetry: retained for up to 90 days
- Account data: retained while your account is active, deleted on request
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and applicable data protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, object to or restrict processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent at any time. Email and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
TuneLab is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you are aged 13 to 17, you must have parental or guardian consent to use TuneLab. In jurisdictions where the age of digital consent is higher than 13, you must meet that local requirement.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.
