Pan-Pot
Awakenings x Drumcode ADE 2024
Awakenings x Drumcode: the Vatican City of techno orthodoxy, where the uniform is black and the beats are a doctrine. We submit willingly to the sermon, knowing full well we’ll be vibrating for days. The Gashouder is a pressure cooker of strobe light and smoke, every kick drum felt in the sternum.
Pan-Pot deal in a currency of pure, unadulterated hard techno, holding a merciless 139 BPM line for nearly the entire duration, with the tonal centre ruthlessly anchored in the stark, driving 12A. The energy profile is a monolithic wall of low-end, with mid-range synth stabs slicing through the fog and high-end used only for punctuation on the rare breakdown. This is functional, peak-time weaponry.
Their own ‘Now We Are Free’ sets a cinematic, almost ironic tone before the descent, while the inclusion of System F’s trance classic ‘Out of the Blue’ is a genuinely bold, peak-hour curveball. Space 92’s ‘Apollo’ provides a relentless, cosmic drive, and Auto Union’s ‘Replication’ is a lesson in industrial tension. They start with the grandeur of FEEL’s ‘Now We Are Free’, hammer the room into submission through the middle, and close with the fitting, anthemic call of Lost Soul’s ‘We Are Your Friends’.
