Pan-Pot

A virtual Gashouder for Awakenings 2020: we’re staring at a screen, pretending the bass from our headphones is shaking a cavernous industrial space. Pan-Pot’s set is a lesson in how to make monolithic techno feel oddly playful. The vibe is dark, focused, and laced with a winking sense of humor, as evidenced by the absurdist opener ‘Supalonely (Workout Mix)’.
This is peak-time, driving techno locked into a relentless 133 BPM groove, with the 7A key providing a hypnotic, minor-key foundation. The mix is masterfully dense, a wall of sound where the low-end is king (over 83% of the energy profile), allowing eerie pads and quirky vocal samples to dance atop a foundation of pure granite. Their digging unearths glorious oddities: Soul Club’s ‘Technosoul’ is a raw, jacking weapon, while dropping a Lee Marrow Eurobeat mix of Corona’s ‘I Don’t Wanna be A Star’ is the kind of left-field genius that defines their style.
The journey from that hilarious fitness-track intro, through the mind-bending depths of Cravo’s ‘Evo.03’, and finally into the epic, trance-tinged crescendo of Armin van Buuren’s ‘Shivers’ remix is a cinematic ride. It’s techno with a personality, and we are utterly here for it.
