Anjunadeep The Yearbook 2023
The Anjunadeep Yearbook is our annual comfort blanket, a meticulously curated deep house mix that we'll inevitably overplay for months. We're all guilty of having it on in the background while we pretend to work, only to be sucker-punched by a melody. This continuous mix is deep house and melodic house at its finest, with a steady 124 BPM average and a harmonic palette favoring 12A and 3B for emotional resonance. The energy is low-end dominant, providing a warm, rolling foundation that supports intricate mid-range melodies and ethereal vocal snippets.
The mixing is seamless and flowing, designed for home listening as much as the dancefloor, with smooth transitions that maintain a consistent, enveloping mood. The arc is gentle, rising and falling like a tide, with careful attention to dynamic contrast. Standout tracks from the 71-strong list include the opening ambient swell of Polymath's 'Alpha Waves', and the anthemic, crowd-pleasing drop of deadmau5's 'The Veldt (Edit)'. HUGEL's 'Tra Tra' injects a dose of sunny, vocal-led energy, while LEGATO's 'Petals' with Jody Wisternoff is pure, blissful progressive house.
Joseph Ray's 'A Power Over Me' is a deep, driving highlight, and Steven Weston's 'If You Know Me' offers a poignant, vocal-driven moment. The journey starts with the serene 'Alpha Waves', peaks with the communal joy of 'Tra Tra', and gently lands on the introspective note of Mundopal's '10H10'.
